PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
On June 27, 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its long awaited decision in the Janus (fair share fee) case. The Court ruled that “fair share fees” in the public sector are no longer permissible as the fees violate the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This webinar will identify the steps and cautions for employers in implementing the Janus decision including: 1. Immediate cessation of collection of fair share fee; 2. Communications to Unions; 3. Communications to employees; 4. Review of union contracts for related issues; 5. Employee requests to cancel dues deductions; and 6. Actions and lawsuits being taken by unions and others challenging the fair share fees.
